We connected with Matrix MASC Member Melanie Webb from TEGNA to get her position on the value of MASC and its impact on the industry. Listen to her responses below.
What is the value of the Media Ad Sales Council, otherwise known as MASC?
I believe the value of MASC is that it brings together thought leaders from across our industry to really discuss the potential issues and potential roadblocks that affect sellers across the ecosystem, and I think it also provides a forum to collaborate to solve today's problems and look for the future and for what's going to be needed for the seller of the future.
Can you tell us why this council, why MASC?
I joined MASC because I wanted to be a part of the solution. You know, there really hasn't been any significant change in the way media has been bought and sold in the last 10 to 15 years, and there's still a lot of disparate systems and a lot of friction in the process so I really joined MASC because I wanted to be a part of the group that finds a way to solve for these issues and finds better, faster, smarter ways to improve the overall sales process.
What are you hoping to gain from MASC?
I hope that our industry gains from MASC. I believe that if we have this smart group of people putting their heads together and coming up with solutions, that everyone will benefit as a whole, and I believe that will benefit me as a result of that as well.
